Forming Questions with "Do" and "Does"

Updated: Jan 5

Asking questions is an important part of communication. In English, we use "do" and "does" to form questions in the present simple tense. Let’s take a look at how to use them correctly.

Hands with pencils raised in a classroom, teacher in focus holding paper, dark chalkboard in the background with faint writing.

To ask questions in the present simple tense, we use "do" for I, you, we, and they and "does" for he, she, and it. Remember: "do" and "does" are placed at the beginning of the sentence.

Examples:

🔹 Do you like pizza?

🔹 Does she play tennis?

Tip: Practice asking simple questions about your daily activities. For example, "Do you work today?" or "Does he go to the gym?"
